Zelenskyy Says He Still Wants To Sign Mineral Deal With US After Oval Office Spat With Trump

Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelenki told Fox News on Friday that he wanted to sign a mineral trade with the United States despite the public explosion in the oval office.

“The US wanted this deal very much, but we weren’t against this deal, but we wanted to understand which part of the security guarantee would take this deal, what next step would take. Again, for our people, to understand that you don’t like during the war, do you sometimes hate it? Zelenskyy said.

“I understand. A lot of the terrible things this war has brought us. So we’re not, we don’t want surprises. Yes, that’s why we want to be very fair with our partners. I think this deal was prepared by the team. It wasn’t simple. [the] A few weeks and now I’m ready. I think they have to sign it. The state must sign. The Minister must sign it. that’s it. I don’t know when they’ll do that. It depends on the US side. ”

Sources on Tuesday said the US had signed a contract with Ukraine and jointly developed a mineral extraction project within the country.

By Thursday, Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent told Fox News that “the deal has been made,” adding that it was a “winning” for all involved and would be signed at the White House by Friday. However, the White House said Zelensky “nothing will be signed” to Daily Colour White House correspondent Reagan Reese following the clash between the president and vice president.

Baier continued to ask Zelenskyy if the contract does not contain security clauses. Zelensky further said Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin could not enter certain mineral-producing regions. However, the Ukrainian president opposed the decision, saying he told Trump “doesn’t trust Putin.”

“I told him that Ukrainian territory had over 20 companies, American companies and large corporations. Even the territory that was temporarily occupied had offices. For Putin, that’s not an issue,” Zelensky said. “It’s a European company or Ukraine. That’s not a problem. He just came and occupied it.”
