Last weekend, The Washington Post published a moving and highly personal article about the incident. Cost to Become a Maricopa County Supervisor It’s been three years since Donald Trump lost Arizona.
Gates is one of the few mainstream Republican lawmakers remaining in office in Arizona.
One of the depressing few who was willing to stand up to the intense pressure Trump and his mob put on him – branding this lifelong Republican a traitor, demanding his arrest, threatening his life, and revealing where he lives. , the people who summoned their daughters, were raped repeatedly and sent their families into hiding.
All this because he refused to bow to their demands to accept the big lie that Trump was robbed.
The reaction from some Republicans to Mr. Gates’ story was… well, amazing. There is something truly remarkable about the apparently limitless ability of some humans to act like complete and complete idiots.
Bill Gates is being treated for PTSD
Gates told the Post’s Yvonne Winguet Sanchez about his experience. His fear and anger and his feelings of betrayal caused him headaches and insomnia, turning him into someone his wife could not recognize.
“This was a family trip,” Gates exclaimed. “We are all going through this together. But we had to understand that we cannot do this alone. bottom.”
Gates was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and has been undergoing treatment since last year.
So you can imagine the outpouring of reactions from fellow Republicans, some of whom were once friends and allies, who read his struggles.
An independent review found that:Election day issues have nothing to do with cheating
They get a glimpse of the painful personal toll of a calculated three-year campaign to undermine democracy, but that campaign was based on unsubstantiated fantasies, and a surprisingly large number of Americans used fish hooks, lines, Based on the blatant lie of buying a sinker.
“Bill Gates, the corrupt chairman of the Maricopa County Oversight Board, claims he suffers from PTSD due to criticism he received from voters in recent years,” Kari Lake said. “Operation room” account tweeted. “Hug. He can’t run for office, but he can run to the media for sympathy.”
Arizona leaders respond with contempt
Scottsdale Republican Rep. Alexander Collodin also took a moment to offer kind words of support.
“I went through all of this (except PTSD) to fight for election fairness.” he tweeted. “Where’s my glowing profile @yvonnewingett?”
Corodin is one of the attorneys who filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Trump, alleging “massive and widespread fraud” in the 2020 election.it was threw out U.S. District Court Judge Diane Khmeteva spoke at length about “gossip and innuendo,” but said the actual evidence was lacking.
Corodin’s cynical disdain for Gates’ struggle was retweeted by House Speaker Ben Thoma, Majority Leader Leo Biacicucci, and the House Republican Twitter account, the Arizona Majority.
Meanwhile, Republican Mesa Rep. Justin Heap simply said, replied “lol” When a fellow MAGA supporter posted a GIF mocking Gates.
Some suggest another conspiracy is underway
Arizona Republican National Committee member Tyler Bowyer of Turning Point Action was equally touched by Gates’ story.
“Where was the media when Maricopa County Attorney Alister Adele was put to death?” he tweeted. “They deleted the articles and tweets they wrote about her. I have her receipts. Will Bill Gates be the victim this time? Well, bud.”
Adele died in April 2022, six weeks after resigning, amid questions about whether alcohol abuse affected her ability to work.
180 misdemeanor cases had to be dismissed because prosecutors failed to file charges before the statute of limitations expired, prompting increased investigations and calls to resign.
Former Rep. Shauna Bolick learned nothing from Gates’ story, but used Bowyer’s reaction to suggest a new conspiracy was underway around the late Adele.
“For the past nearly a year, I have been trying to obtain public records from the MCAO regarding various members of staff who filed attorney complaints against former Maricopa County Attorney Adele,” she tweeted. “It’s amazing what this office is hiding from the public.”
Is cynicism the way to make America great?
Caroline Wren, the political mastermind behind Lake’s 2022 gubernatorial election loss, is clearly sympathetic, saying every American should read Gates’ ‘troublesome story’ Responded to the reaction of journalists.
“Laughter, a sobering story?” Wren tweeted. “What a joke. He had a meltdown because someone wore a MAGA hat. He has to resign and be hospitalized for mental illness.”
Next, Sen. Wendy Rogers (Republican??) is Christian compassion as usual.
“Bill Gates can always call 1-800 Wah,” she tweeted. So is this the way America is made great? again?
I’m starting to wonder if the Republican Party is really doomed.
