‘Mama Bear Fascism’: Joy Reid Criticizes New DeSantis Campaign Ad, Says He’s ‘Tormenting Gay Kids’

MSNBC host Joy Reed on Friday criticized a new commercial for Ron DeSantis’ campaign, saying it “tormented gay children.”

The Mamas for DeSantis, an organization that supports Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign, has released a new ad promising that it will not allow the left to advance its policies on children. Campaign ads outlined DeSantis’ policy accomplishments in Florida, including banning critical racial theories and suspending the DEI.

Reid mocked the new ad that featured DeSantis’ wife Casey in the foreground. Ms. Reed suggested that Casey’s presence helped distract her from her husband’s awkwardness. (Related: DeSantis bans out-of-state driver licenses issued to illegal immigrants)

“Well, it’s official. Casey DeSantis is on board, presumably to inject some personality into her bumbling husband Ron’s campaign,” Reid said.

“The First Lady of Florida has released a new ad to launch the ‘Mamas for DeSantis,’ an initiative to advocate for parental rights. But in reality, Mom has fascism. This is the latest plug for DeSantis’ barebones platform. Anyway, what does he promise other than to torture gay children and the Latino workers who keep Florida’s economy going? ‘ added Reed.

Reed invited two guests, Democratic strategist Cornell Belcher and former House Speaker John Boehner’s adviser Maura Gillespie, to discuss DeSantis’ struggles.

Reed explained his theory that some people are bored and want change, but wonder why DeSantis isn’t benefiting from it.

“He’s gone totally radical. He’s so weird. Then he goes out and boasts about how much money he’s raising, and the poll numbers go down.” It turned out to be a lie, as 80% of the $130 million he raised had just been transferred from the fund he ran for governor. So he can’t even do it right. Why do you think someone who should theoretically benefit from boredom and the desire for change end up so miserable?” Reed asked. .

“DeSantis has spent a lot of time on Awakening and Disney attacks, right? There is,” Gillespie replied.

“I would say the biggest problem for DeSantis is that it’s not as appealing to the public as it was for Hillary Clinton. And overall, they’re not going to get the nomination. If then Joe Biden. had he run, he would have won instead of Hillary Clinton.I think DeSantis is in a similar situation. He will always be behind Donald Trump.”

Reid added that even if DeSantis won the nomination, he would not be elected because “no one wants a six-week abortion ban.”
