Left-Wing Activist’s Kids Book On Black History Yanked Over Plagiarism Accusations: REPORT

A left-wing author and activist who wrote a black history book for children reportedly plagiarized significant portions of the book from outside sources, according to the National Review.

Social justice activist and former teacher Ran Miller has published Resistance Stories from Black History for Kids.,” This book was created to show how African-American history is exemplified not only by peaceful protest, but by “rebellion and resistance.” according to to the description of the book. The book was found to have been plagiarized from several sources, including journal articles, other books and academic journals, and is currently under investigation by the publisher. according to to the National Review.

In a passage from Chapter 2 of his book entitled Hidden African Civilizations, Mr. Miller writes, “Modern historian Prime Minister Williams finds evidence proving the origin of the early Kemet people and their civilization in South Africa. Based on this, I refer to Kemet as ‘the eldest daughter of Ethiopia’.” ”

Miller appears to have excerpted this section of his book from the 1976 book article In Ebony magazine, professor and noted black historian John Henrik Clark writes, “African-American historian Prime Minister Williams calls Egypt ‘the eldest daughter of Ethiopia,’ and the early Egyptians and their civilization originated in South Africa. In some cases, Miller changed phrases and words in content pulled from outside sources, but in more serious cases, entire pages of his book were plagiarized, according to the National Review. Miller reportedly took pages from his book out of a magazine. article Posted on BlackPast.org.

Keith Riegert, publisher of Ulysses Press, reportedly told the National Review that the book will be quoted from the company’s website and is currently under investigation.

“Ulysses Press has a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism. . As of Friday afternoon, the Ulysses Press web page containing the book is no longer available. However, it appears the book is still available on his Amazon and other marketplaces such as Barnes & Noble.

Miller and Ulysses Press did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
