Alabama officials slam Biden’s border order as ‘election season spin’

Alabama's Republican caucus slammed the White House on Tuesday after the administration's announcement. New administrative measures To address the border crisis, which many argue President Joe Biden's policies have helped create, Biden has issued a new executive order that he says will “help control the border.”

“These steps I'm announcing today will not alone fix our entire immigration system,” Biden wrote in a post, “but they will go a long way to helping us better manage our difficult challenges.”

Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said it's a “trick” that doesn't actually solve the problem.

“President Biden's proclamation today confirms that he has had the authority all along to issue executive orders to address the border crisis of his own creation,” she said on X. “It's also a gimmick that includes broad exceptions, including for migrants who use the CBP One app, his administration's one-click entry system. It's past time to end every piece of Biden's mass immigration policy, rather than enabling it.”

“Every community across Alabama is feeling the impact of Joe Biden's open border policies,” Britt said on “Capitol Report.”

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) told Fox Business it was a “sham show.”

“They think we're stupid,” Tuberville argued. “This is a war against America… This is stupid. The American taxpayers need protection. The people need protection. This is out of control… This is all about the polls. They're going to get killed at the polls. They know it, and they're trying to trick the American people into doing something that's not true.”

Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saxon District) called it “Biden's grand reelection plan.”

“Step 1: Create a massive crisis at the southern border,” Rogers explained on X. “Step 2: Try (and fail) to pin the blame for the crisis on President Trump as hundreds of thousands of Americans die from fentanyl coming through the border. Step 3: Try to put lipstick on that pig with (probably ineffective) executive orders before the election.”

Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said this is just “election season advertising.”

Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) called on President Biden to pass H.R. 2 if he is serious about border security.

Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) noted that Biden has only taken some action on the crisis “five months after Election Day.”
