“The Biden Administration has waged a war on American energy,” said Taborville. “Costs have skyrocketed and consumers and producers alike have been squeezed by burdensome regulations. It is critical that Congress prioritizes passing bipartisan legislation to unlock our nation's offshore energy resources. Offshore energy development in the Gulf of Mexico is essential to our overall energy strategy and will provide enormous economic, national security and environmental benefits.”
Taberville detailed specific Biden administration policies that will only hinder domestic energy production.
“According to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the U.S. Department of the Interior plans to sell only three leases in the Gulf of Mexico over the next five years,” Tuberville explained, “This is the lowest number of auctions in the program's history. Since 1992, there have been at least 11 lease sales in each five-year plan.”

In January, the Biden administration suspended pending approvals for liquefied natural gas exports.
“The lack of offshore lease sales puts important opportunities for investment and production at great risk,” Taborville added, “not to mention giving a competitive advantage to other countries that do not have similar restrictions. These are just a few examples of Biden's domestic energy follies, but they are not the only ones.”
Taborville believes it is now up to Congress to pass legislation that will expand the U.S. energy sector.
“Instead of prioritizing environmentalists and implementing burdensome government regulations, Biden should work with Congress to make smart environmental choices and incentivize domestic energy production,” he argued. “Now is the time to enact legislation that protects our environment, strengthens our energy security, and promotes economic growth. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient energy sector and unlock America's ocean energy potential, now and for generations to come.”
