‘Disgusted’: Fmr Biden Campaign Adviser Says Trump Is ‘Scared To Go Up Against A Black Woman’ With ‘Facts’

A former senior adviser to Biden's 2020 campaign said Wednesday at a National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) event that former President Donald Trump was “afraid to confront Black women with facts.”

Alencia Johnson appeared on CNN's “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” on Wednesday to discuss Trump's Q&A at NABJ, along with Fox News' Harris Faulkner, Semaphore's Kadia Goba and ABC News' Rachel Scott. During the event, Trump slammed Scott after she detailed allegations of racism by the former president, calling her questioning “disgraceful.” (Related: Trump's interview with the National Association of Black Journalists was a complete flop)

“But today's interview, the whole show, really put me off. I want to thank Rachel Scott at ABC News, she spoke up and asked the tough questions,” Johnson continued. “And that's why so many black journalists were unhappy with his decision to go on, given his disrespect towards so many black journalists, including Abby Phillip at this network.”

Johnson also said Trump had been “aggressive” in interrupting Scott, saying it showed why the former president was “very afraid” to debate Harris.

“The way he interrupted her and got aggressive actually explains why he's so afraid of debating Vice President Kamala Harris, because she will very clearly state the facts to him, just like Rachel did, and she will push him to the point where he gets upset and starts hurling insults,” Johnson said.

“So he's actually afraid to confront a Black woman who has all the facts and can challenge all of his extremely harmful positions. So I think it was more than a bad moment for him,” Johnson continued. “I think it was a frightening moment for him, especially since he continues to act like he's been a great president for Black America when he's done nothing and is trying to cause further harm to our community.”

Harris challenged Trump to a debate on Tuesday, suggesting he was afraid to debate her, even though Trump has repeatedly said he would be open to debating the vice president.

Since Harris became the party's presumptive nominee, President Trump has criticized ABC News, which was scheduled to host the second debate between President Joe Biden and Harris on Sept. 10. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the outlet opted for Fox News to host the event instead.
