Soros-Backed Haitian Group Wants Trump Arrested Over Pet-Eating Statements

A group funded by George Soros' Open Society Foundations is calling for the arrest of former President Donald Trump over comments he made regarding widespread claims that Haitian immigrants in Ohio ate their pets.

The Haitian Bridge Alliance filed criminal charges Tuesday against President Trump and presidential candidate, Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio. According to The Cleveland, Ohio-based Chandra Law Firm is representing the group in court, which is seeking the arrest of the two men on charges of false reporting, obstruction of public service, harassment by communication and aggravated intimidation. According to the law firm, the Haitian Bridge Alliance is invoking an Ohio law that allows private citizens in Ohio to file criminal charges.

“Haitian communities have been terrorized and public services disrupted by Trump and Vance's relentless and irresponsible misinformation,” Subodh Chandra, the lead attorney on the lawsuit, said in a press release. “Trump and Vance must be held accountable to the rule of law.”

“Others who have wreaked havoc like them would have already been arrested,” Chandra continued.

The Haitian Bridge Alliance is one of several Haitian and black immigrant-oriented organizations that have received more than $1 million in funding from the Open Society Foundations. According to According to a November 2021 press release, the Open Society Foundations are funded by billionaire liberal activist George Soros, who has used his fortune over the years to support a variety of liberal causes and to defeat Republicans on the ballot.

The case was sparked by allegations made in local media earlier this month. Social Media Pages At a rally for residents in Springfield, Ohio, the congressman claimed that Haitian immigrants had been seen slaughtering pet cats for food, a claim that gained further traction after President Trump mentioned it during a presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

“In Springfield, they're eating dogs, they're eating people who come in,” Trump said at the debate. “They're eating cats. They're eating the pets of the people who live there.”

The Daily Caller News Foundation visited Springfield to speak to local residents about the national media attention surrounding the town, and while no one who spoke with the DCNF could verify the pet-eating allegations, many residents were dismayed by the high number of Haitian immigrants coming into their relatively small town. Other residents who spoke with the DCNF blamed the Biden-Harris administration and Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine for the large influx of migrants.

Tuesday's lawsuit was filed in Clark County District Court in Ohio.

“President Trump has rightly pointed out the failed immigration system that Kamala Harris has overseen, which has allowed thousands of illegal immigrants to enter Springfield and many other areas across the country,” Trump campaign spokesperson Carolyn Leavitt told DCNF. “President Trump will secure our border and put an end to the chaos that illegal immigration causes in our communities.”
