Social media users have been sharing screenshots of a purported Atlantic article titled “Harris may need to steal the election to save democracy.”

This claim is false. Check Your Fact checked the Atlantic’s website and found no such article. An extensive internet search yielded no results.
Anna Bross, a spokeswoman for The Atlantic, confirmed in an email to Check Your Fact that the claims were false and that “The Atlantic has never published such an article.”
“Fake headlines distort Atlantic article It was published on October 6, 2021, with the headline ‘Kamala Harris may have to stop stealing,”’ Bross said.
