“I didn’t urge the president directly, but I thought he should do it, and I discussed it with his staff,” Clyburn said. “I think we need to clean up the air in this country…I think we’re trying to run a government on behalf of all the people in this country, and if we all the time from now on… if you spend it pursuing Trump or pursuing Trump; [Former Wyoming Republican Rep.] liz cheney [special counsel] Dr. Jack Smith. Please take them off the table, I know Donald Trump and… Because I think the country knows Donald Trump,” Clyburn continued. “And as soon as he gets to the point where he can take credit for it, he’ll do it right away. So I’ve asked the president to move this forward.”
Clyburn added that Biden’s staff listened to his suggestions and told him they would pass them on to Biden.
“So I’m waiting for the president’s response,” he said.
NewsNation host Chris Cuomo and ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith also called on Mr. Biden on Monday to pardon Mr. Trump.
“Enough is enough, you know? You’re a Democrat, you lost the election,” Smith told Cuomo in response to Cuomo’s insistence that Biden should pardon Trump. “We couldn’t prevent him from returning to the White House. As you know, over a dozen cases were dropped against him. For the cases that were decided against him, he He’s going to appeal and maybe he’ll be relieved of having to deal with all of that. It’s time to move on.”
