Biden DOJ May Charge Up To 200 More Jan. 6 Defendants As Trump Takes Office

According to Politico, the Department of Justice (DOJ) may indict up to 200 more defendants on January 6th.

With President Trump’s inauguration just 14 days away, the Justice Department will add hundreds of new defendants to the more than 1,500 already charged with crimes related to actions at the Capitol. Politico, January 6, 2021 reported.

Matthew Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who led the prosecution of the January 6 defendants, announced last week that he would resign before President Trump took office.

“Over the past four years, our nation’s prosecutors, FBI agents, detectives, and analysts have conducted one of the most complex and resource-intensive investigations in the history of the Department of Justice,” said Attorney General Merrick Garland. “We have carried out this,” he said. statement Monday. “By analyzing large amounts of physical and digital data, they identified, arrested, initiated prosecutions, and secured convictions for a wide range of criminal activities against hundreds of people who participated in illegal activities that day.”

President Trump has repeatedly said he would pardon the defendants on January 6th.
