On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, after the board accepted Gregory’s resignation, county manager Maury Thompson, on the regular board of supervisors, acquired the remaining four boards of supervisors through a set of proposed measures taken to find alternatives to Yabapai County Supervisors in District 2.

Thompson had three proposal steps.

Vice-Chair Brooks Compton said: I think anyone who submits a letter of interest needs to know that we are all interested in working with us to improve the county. ”

“It fits perfectly with my initial proposal,” said Thompson, the county manager. He continued to discuss and define what the board was looking for and what characteristics should be considered in new board members.

Several board members expressed their desire to see people interested in running for positions in the upcoming elections in November 2026.

They also expressed their interest in choosing people who are critical thinkers, hardworking, and value the relationships they need to be successful representatives of their communities.

Director Kukunio said, “We don’t have to be close at all times, but we need the respect and desire to work with fellow executives.”

“It is a privilege to serve this role as a supervisor and we need to know that this person understands the sacrifices that were made long before this job was made possible,” said Chairman Mallory.

Second, if they choose, the board allows a subcommittee consisting of Chairman Mallory, Vice-Chairman Compton, and County Manager Thompson, to utilize the characteristics they consider, and can present recommendations for those who most closely possess the qualities identified by the board.

Manager Thompson said, “It’s important to be clear: the board will look at the full list just like the public, but that’s exactly what this recommendation is.

SupervisorCheck revealed that the entire list is in a press release submitted for public comment, and that all names and comments are accessible.

The final point in the direction was to confirm that the Board of Supervisors wanted to receive a resume, financial disclosure, and a conflict of interest affidavit in addition to a letter of profit. A background check is also performed.

The Board unanimously supported these three proposed steps. The deadline for submitting letters of interest is March 7, 2025.
