Maricopa County Animal Care and Control debuted a browser-based mobile app to give new pet owners easy access to medical records, shelter recommendation services and expert advice from around 24 hours a day.
Kim Powell with the agency said it was about helping pets and their new families adjust to each other, stay together and reduce the already frequent and frequent influx of valley shelters.
“We hope that this recruitment app will reduce adoption returns. “And people will return the dogs without really making them shine at home first.”
The browser-based app is already available to parents of new dogs.
She said in the first few weeks, “They might turn into the toilet on the floor, chew on the couch cushions, or chew on such things. They might see their personality come out a little more.
Powell said he currently sees around 8% of adopted children returning.
“Normally, what we’ve done in the past is to send us an email, then send us a big adoption packet, and then we’ll go to you late at night after you’re already at home.
However, other shelters using Petzels reduced their PET returns by 20% to 30%.

The app is free, does not require downloading and works on any device.
