Hunter Biden’s Comments Under Fire
Chris Cillizza, a political analyst, expressed on Tuesday that Hunter Biden was not truthful regarding his father’s, Joe Biden’s, performance in June 2024. During a recent interview, Hunter claimed that his father seemed fatigued due to an intense schedule and the use of Ambien, suggesting he looked like a “deer in the headlights.” Cillizza, however, challenged this notion, expressing skepticism about Hunter’s account.
Cillizza remarked, “It’s obviously false and crucial to recognize that,” while sharing Hunter’s full comments from the interview. He agreed that Joe Biden appeared overwhelmed but argued that the timeline was misrepresented. “It’s straightforward to refute,” he added.
While acknowledging Biden’s busy itinerary leading up to the debate, Cillizza noted that it wrapped up days before the event. “He was in Paris at the beginning of June, then attended the G7 in Italy from June 12th to 14th,” he explained. “Right after that, he had a long flight to California for fundraising activities with figures like Barack Obama and George Clooney.” He emphasized that Biden had ample time to prepare and recover.
Cillizza elaborated, stating that the former president had a nine-day window before the debate to rest at his home in Delaware. He argued that the debate, scheduled for 9 p.m. Eastern Time on June 27th, should not have been adversely affected by Ambien use just a day before. “My own experience with Ambien leads me to believe he should have been fine by debate time,” he mentioned.
He fundamentally disagreed with Hunter’s excuse, saying, “This doesn’t hold up. When the facts are clear, it collapses. Hunter isn’t being honest here, which doesn’t do his father any favors.” Cillizza was forthright in his criticism, asserting that Hunter’s explanation about Ambien was flawed.
The former president ultimately withdrew from his reelection campaign in July 2024, following a troubling debate performance where he struggled significantly.
