Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – The Attorney General’s Office has sent a letter to the Maricopa County Civil Affairs Director requesting a report of the issues that occurred on Election Day.
The Office of the Attorney General’s Office of Election Integrity has received hundreds of complaints regarding the administration of the 2022 general election in Maricopa County, according to a letter sent by Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright. Wright has sent the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office a comprehensive report on problems with printers and tally machines, requesting that it state how employees were trained in the “checkout” procedure.
The letter also shares concerns about ballots being posted at “Door 3.” The Attorney General’s Office issued a pledge that more than 1,700 “Door 3” uncounted ballots from polling stations were “placed in black duffel bags intended to be used for tallied ballots.” said to have received it.
Wright’s letter concludes with a request to provide a copy of each polling station’s official ballot report and an explanation of the problem. “The Arizonan deserves a full report and explanation for the myriad issues that have arisen related to his administration of the 2022 General Election in Maricopa County,” Wright said.
Maricopa County Oversight Board Chairman Bill Gates issued a statement Monday night regarding the Attorney General’s Office’s request.
Maricopa County has until November 28th to respond to the Attorney General’s request and then submit an official canvas to the Secretary of State.
