Barry Moore shines a light on ‘Shutdown Schumer’ and ‘Holdup Hakeem’ – Democrats aim to ‘hurt the American people because of Donald Trump’

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) shared an update via social media regarding the government shutdown that began late Tuesday night.

“Let’s be clear: it was the Democrats who shut down the government,” Moore stated.

“In our House, we passed a seven-week continuing resolution. Republicans voted to keep the government running.”

As Moore campaigns for an open U.S. Senate seat in Alabama, he pointed out that while Senate Democrats might have initially considered the House bill, they stalled in their demands for partisan additions.

“We refer to them as ‘shutdown Schumers’ and ‘hold-up Hake’ Jeffries—they’re the ones asking for $1 trillion to keep things going,” he added.

“They want to revive a bill that would cut Medicaid for undocumented individuals and take away $50 billion from rural hospitals, impacting $9.2 million for every rural hospital in Alabama.”

Despite the shutdown, Moore reassured that essential services would proceed.

“USDA and Farm Programs will keep running as usual,” he emphasized.

“Social Security checks will go out. Medicare is funded. Parks are still operational.”

“TSA will remain open, along with air traffic control and national weather services. Hospitals will not close.”

He also expressed hope that Democrats would reach an agreement before mid-month payment for military personnel, as service members received pay on Wednesday for their work before the shutdown.

“The Democrats don’t want Donald Trump and us to fund the government now; I think they’re trying to punish the American people,” Moore said, suggesting he believes Congressional Democrats will eventually relent. “We’re seeing some pressure on them, cracks might be forming.”
