A source told Politico that Biden has also called Trump a “shithole” in private.

Biden campaigned for a return to civility during the 2020 campaign, but has attacked Trump and his supporters since taking office. In his speech in Philadelphia in September 2022, Biden claimed they posed a “threat to democracy.” During the 2012 presidential campaign, Biden attacked then-Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, claiming he would put black people “back in chains.”

While Biden has denounced Trump and his supporters as a threat to democracy, Maine Democratic Secretary of State Shena Bellows said on Dec. 28 that the 14th Amendment's “insurrection” clause and disqualified Trump from the presidency due to the Capitol riot. . On December 19, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled in a 4-3 decision disqualifying Trump from voting in the 2024 election. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear Trump's appeal of the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling on February 8.

“If you view politics as an all-out war rather than a peaceful way to resolve differences, you can't have a contest. You can't have a contest,” Biden said in a speech at Valley Forge. “What President Trump wants is all-out war.”
