O’Reilly Questions Carville’s Predictions
Former Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly poked fun at Democratic strategist James Carville on Wednesday, who expressed concern that President Donald Trump might declare martial law in an effort to influence the 2026 midterm elections.
Carville, speaking on “Cuomo,” mentioned that Democrats are hopeful for a strong showing against the governors of Virginia and New Jersey in the upcoming November elections. He argued that a decisive Democratic win could lead Trump to declare a “national emergency,” potentially disrupting the midterms.
O’Reilly responded by suggesting that such a drastic action was highly unlikely. “After hearing about Carville, I’m buying a condo in Luxembourg tomorrow. I’m out. Martial law? My God! Do you have a tank in my driveway? Ahhhhh!” O’Reilly joked, adding that he doesn’t foresee martial law being declared.
He critiqued Carville’s comments as a “scary tactic,” asserting that the condition of the economy will play a key role in the elections. “I’m not worried about fraud or anything like that. I think whatever happens will reflect in the medium-term results. If a significant bill passes, and people have more money, everything changes,” O’Reilly said. He noted that small businesses would likely thrive without fears of increased taxes, thereby benefiting the overall economy.
Meanwhile, Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” seems to be stuck in the House after a faction of House Republicans blocked immediate action. The Senate voted to approve the bill on Tuesday, with the vote tallying at 51 to 50. Notably, Senators from North Carolina, Kentucky, and Maine opposed the legislation.
