“We aim to be an action committee, and we aim to be a consequential chairmanship that achieves substantive results,” Galvin said in a speech Monday morning.
Among those priorities is bringing the NHL team back to the desert after failing to keep the Coyotes in Arizona.
“I have spoken with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman about my desire to see professional hockey players return to the Valley, and he fully supports that,” Galvin told reporters. I’m doing it,” he said. What about the building? ”
Galvin added that the county, not the state government, is working on the issue because “we don’t have any state interests, we represent the entire Valley.”
Other priorities include a comprehensive overhaul of Maricopa County’s election system, which has unanimous support among Republican officials.
“I think it was wise to contact the National Election Assistance Commission. I mean, if this is what they’re doing and they’re going to have a reputable company review our system and everything is great and great, then I I can turn to my constituents and say, ‘Listen, I had this.’I looked into it and I think everything is fine,”’ Supervisor Lesko told reporters.
An audit commissioned by the state Senate to investigate the 2020 election found no fraud, costing taxpayers millions of dollars.
Mr. Galvin also pledged to end federal oversight of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
“I don’t think the voters here and the taxpayers are getting enough benefit. As I said in my speech, what we’re going to do is work with our attorneys to do what we can to address this issue. “It’s time to make a change,” Galvin said.
Other priorities include working with the Arizona Diamondbacks to address the expiring Chase Field contract and eliminating red tape and regulations to ease the housing shortage.
