NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Thursday called the accusation “classic” after Democratic strategist James Carville claimed former President Donald Trump has a sexually transmitted disease (STD). They reacted by calling it “a political drama.”
Carville appeared on “Cuomo” to discuss recent claims that President Trump suffers from “secondary syphilis,” after a photo was taken of what appeared to be red spots on the former president's hands. Carville asked Cuomo if he remembered that Trump's health records were reportedly recovered from a former doctor in 2017, and said the public “hasn't seen” them since then.
The Democratic strategist went on to claim that the former president “has had relationships with porn stars in the past,” and argued that President Trump may have gleaned something from their “interesting” past connections. “Remember Dr. Bornstein, President Trump's internist and gastroenterologist,” Carville said. “Trump sent thugs to retrieve his health records in January 2017. We didn't see them. And the fact is that skin discoloration could be a sign of secondary syphilis. Yes. We know he has had affairs with porn actresses, because he paid them. It's a matter of public record.”
“And I think a lot of people just want to pass this off as some kind of humor. It may or may not be humorous. But given the fact that he got his health record back, certainly I can't say that. [and doesn’t] Everyone should see it – and he's had some interesting relationships in the past, so I'm not going to ignore that – at all.
President Trump's former physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, claimed in 2018 that President Trump's longtime personal bodyguard and lawyer, as well as a third party, showed up at his clinic in February 2017 and stole all of the former president's medical records. Was. according to Go to NBC News.
But Mr. Cuomo pushed back against Mr. Carville, saying the Democratic strategist said Mr. Trump was “statistically” much more likely to suffer a “golfing injury” than a sexually transmitted disease. He said he would not ignore his ideas. (Related: Trump campaign official reveals deal with dirty hands: report)
“Fine. Well, I don't think anyone is rational. [wouldn’t] Say the man asked an interesting question. It would be nice to have some answers,” Carville said.
“Wait a minute, this is classic political theater going on here. There are many reasons why he gets blisters on his hands other than STDs. In fact, statistically speaking, it's more common than STDs to cause blisters.” It would also be much more likely that it was a golf injury. But I understand what you're doing, and see if they give you an answer depending on the bait. Let's do it,” Cuomo said.
Carville first made the sexually transmitted disease allegations against the former president in a video posted to YouTube on Wednesday. However, since the photo went viral, Trump campaign officials have told TMZ that the cause was nothing but blood from a paper cut.
