CNN Host Presses Dem Senator On Polls Showing Trump Blowing Biden Out Of The Water On Key Issues

CNN host Sara Sydnor on Monday grilled Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar over polls that show former President Donald Trump leading on key issues.

Sidney pointed to polls from Fox News, Quinnipiac University and Marquette University that showed Trump leading by 5 to 21 percentage points on the economy and about 11 percentage points on immigration. Klobuchar dismissed the polls, saying Biden is “gaining momentum.” (Related article: Harris Faulkner astonished as Democrats claim Biden's failure to “boast” the economy is the reason for his poll slump)

“Recent polls show that inflation, the economy and immigration are Americans' biggest concerns, not abortion rights. Americans polled say Trump, not Biden, is doing a better job on these two issues. And that's just polling,” Sydnor told Klobuchar. “Look at the Fox News, Quinnipiac and Marquette polls. You're seeing the same results on immigration. Do you think Biden can convince Americans he's the man to deal with these two issues? I'll start with inflation, and then the economy, where people feel like they can't afford things they used to be able to afford.”

“First of all, the polls, I've seen poll after poll after poll that shows Joe Biden is gaining momentum right now, but let's put that aside,” Klobuchar argued. “On the economy, you're going to look at a president who has been a leader on the national stage, who has led us through the toughest times, the pandemic that has caused so many people to lose their jobs, who has been distributing vaccines and making sure people have access to health care.”

Klobuchar also argued that Biden is “clearly committed to immigration.”

“He wants emergency powers to close the border,” she said. “What happened? We were trying to pass it in Congress and then Donald Trump stepped in and said, 'No, no, don't do that.' And you see the results.”
