Dem Rep Somehow Blames Trump For Biden’s Disastrous Debate Performance

Democratic Rep. Troy Carter of Louisiana argued Tuesday that President Joe Biden's disastrous debate performance was due to former President Donald Trump “distracting” the president.

Biden froze up at least twice, lost his train of thought and made multiple gaffes during his June 27 CNN debate with Trump. Carter told “CNN Newsroom” host Jim Acosta that Biden's poor debate performance was due to Trump “heckling and making noise” during the duel, over-preparing and “not being 100 percent healthy.” (Related: CNN data expert says he'd 'bet' on Kamala Harris if he were a Democratic donor)

“What led to that situation was a combination of not being 100 percent healthy, the former president being heckled and disturbed next to him, distracting him, and maybe over-preparing. Those are all things that I think we should be better prepared for, and we're not going to see the performance that we saw on Thursday or before,” Carter told Acosta about Biden's debate performance. Acosta did not dispute the allegation.

Carter and CNN did not immediately respond to inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation about Trump's behavior during the debate.

“You're going to see the Joe Biden that you've seen the next day, and every day since the debate: an energetic, coherent, well-planned individual who understands and can articulate the policies that he's worked so hard to get done,” Carter said. “You're going to continue to see that. If you recall, the next day he was flushed, full of energy, able to speak, and he admitted that he had a bad day and performed poorly. Nobody can get away with that.”

Biden is currently trailing Trump by 3.3 percentage points in national head-to-head contests in the next presidential election. according to RealClearPolitics poll average from June 28 to July 8. Trump's lead grown When independent candidates Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Green Party candidate Jill Stein were included in the survey, his support rose to 4.8%.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the DCNF about Carter's allegations.
