Angela Rye Discusses Trump and the 2024 Election
During an interview on Thursday, former CNN commentator Angela Rye expressed her hope that Donald Trump will run for president in the 2024 election.
Trump, who previously won both the electoral and popular votes against former Vice President Kamala Harris—garnering over 77 million votes—has been a significant figure in the political landscape. Rye shared her thoughts on the popular conspiracy theories regarding the election during her appearance on the “Breakfast Club,” suggesting that these theories reflect her concerns about the integrity of the election.
Rye commented, “I feel a deep connection between black women and the Holy Spirit. There’s this fatigue within me about the painful feelings that emerged right after the election.” She added, “I truly believe there’s a genuine alliance surrounding the election. I have some doubts, especially regarding reports on the discrepancies in the election results, particularly in places like Clark County, Nevada.”
Rye also posed a question related to Trump’s comments from January, where he claimed to know how to operate local machines in Pennsylvania better than anyone else. “Who makes such statements?” she asked. “It feels like he’s been quite vocal about his victory, and they’ve hinted at some surprises coming.”
Some experts from left-wing media have indicated that the Republicans may gain an edge in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, partially attributing this to Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.”
Former MSNBC host Joy Reid mentioned that “it’s frankly absurd to believe we can expect a normal election next year.” She seems unconcerned about the Republicans securing re-election, indicating a broader apprehension about the electoral process.
On July 4, Trump enacted the Sweep Act, which includes a permanent extension of the 2017 tax cuts—fulfilling his campaign pledge to eliminate certain taxes on tips and overtime pay, while also permanently raising the child tax credit to $2,200.
Democrats have raised alarms about the implications of this bill, specifically warning that changes to Medicaid benefits could have dire consequences for many Americans.
