Gregg Jarrett Shares Thought-Provoking Point Justice Gorsuch Made In SCOTUS Planned Parenthood Decision

Gregg Jarrett, a legal analyst at Fox News, appeared on Fox Business on Thursday to discuss the importance of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling, stating that the US can block Medicaid funds for Planned Parenthood.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states are planning to receive Medicaid funds for services such as birth control and cancer screening, and that Republicans are making efforts to return the organization. When he appeared in “The Evening Edit,” Jarrett shared the views of Justice Neil Gorsuch.

“Now, it’s huge because they can refund the parent-child relationships of Medicaid dollars, which they rely heavily on. Like South Carolina, the governor ordered taxpayer money not to be used to fund abortions for providers like Planned Parenthood. “He said that elected representatives, not unelected judges, are empowered to make these important policy decisions.”

Jarrett said the ruling was in perfect alignment with the High Court’s reasoning.

“So Liz is perfectly in line with the High Court reasoning when he overturned Roev. Wade and left decision-making to the state. They were elected to civil servants. And that coincides with federal law that prohibits Medicaid from using it for abortion. No, it’s not,” Jarrett added.

Jarrett said Medicaid patients in South Carolina have access to healthcare at more than 200 publicly funded clinics across the state, many of whom have embraced Medicaid. (Related: House GOP target “Big Abortion” – procedure for changing children’s sex to wipe out reforms to Medicaid)

“Medicaid patients can go to any of the 200 public clinics in South Carolina and take Medicaid, so they don’t limit their health care,” Jarrett said. “There are two Planned Parenthood clinics in South Carolina, and as I say, there are 200 Medicaid clinics that take those dollars.

The ruling opens the door for other states to cut Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood. The lawsuit comes from an effort to stop taxpayer funding for South Carolina’s 2018 abortion provider. The decision could set precedents for other states to follow suit amid the organization’s ongoing financial agenda.
