‘I’m Gonna Beat Him’: Chris Christie Confident About Run After Trump Target Letter

Christie told Blitzer he didn’t know what the indictment would say or whether it would be enough to convict Trump.

“Well, it’s hard to say, Wolfe. We haven’t seen the indictment yet. I’ve tried to be very careful about this, both in the classified documents case and in this case. I’d like to see the indictment first. It’s key to what evidence he actually has and whether all of these grounds go into that indictment,” Christie said.

The former New Jersey governor said he believed the indictment would contain many details, but dismissed all “speculation” until a grand jury considered the issue.

Christie then criticized Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s interview with Jake Tupper, who argued that Trump’s indictment over classified documents was the result of “criminalizing” his political opponents.

Christie argued that Trump’s reckless actions with classified documents and subsequent obstruction of the FBI investigation “endanger our forces” and “potentially endanger our intelligence agents.” He argued that Trump should not be given a “pass” because of his partisan loyalty.

“Should he drop out?” Blitzer asked Trump.

“I don’t think he should have run in the first place. But what do you think? I don’t care. I’m going to beat him,” Christie said.

Chris Christie current command According to FiveThirtyEight poll data, Republicans will vote 2.8% in the 2024 primary.
