Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was in Arizona this week to become the first presidential candidate to visit the border region. DeSantis made a surprise visit to Sierra Vista on Wednesday and met with local law enforcement officials, including Cochise County Sheriff Mark Danells. Both Dannells and DeSantis have been outspoken critics of border policy under the Biden administration. The governor of Florida is the latest on a growing list of conservative legislators visiting Cochise County in recent months.

Last summer, Mr. DeSantis arranged for planes to transport immigrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard in one of several migration actions by Republican-led states.
