President Joe Biden briefly donned a Trump hat in the name of unity on Wednesday while attending an event honoring first responders affected by the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, White House press secretary Andrew Bates tweeted.
To honor those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio attended Ground Zero in New York City and the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. While Biden was in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the president and Harris stopped by a fire station and visited those affected by the attacks. The president spoke about the country's bipartisan unity after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and in honor of that message, Biden agreed to wear attendees' “Trump 2024” hats, Bates tweeted.
The Shanksville Fire Department president He spoke about the bipartisan unity of the country after 9/11 and said we need to get it back.
As a gesture, he gave his hat to a Trump supporter, who then said that in the same spirit, the president should also wear a Trump hat, which the president did for a moment. https://t.co/7VKZnkVMY7

In 2023, on his way back from the G20 summit in India, Biden spent the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, in Anchorage, Alaska. Biden's visit to Alaska broke with a decades-old tradition of commemorating victims of the terror attacks around Washington, DC, New York City and at the crash site in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
It was an honor to visit the 9/11 Memorial and FDNY Engine 4/Ladder 15 with President Trump this morning.

The president came under fire in 2023 for claiming that while in Alaska, he visited the site of the terrorist attacks in New York City on Sept. 12, 2001. The White House did not provide The Daily Caller with any evidence that Biden took such a trip, instead pointing to two articles and photos showing Biden visiting the remains of the World Trade Center on Sept. 20, 2001.
