Fox News’ Juan Williams and Martha McCallum came close to yelling Tuesday over the indictment of former President Donald Trump.
Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 indictments related to alleged possession of more than 300 pages of classified documents in a Miami court. Williams has criticized conservatives, arguing there is a double standard between the Justice Department’s treatment of Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Joe Biden.
“Joe Biden’s team made those documents known to the government. The government did not become Biden. And in the case of Hillary Clinton, there was no effort at all to sabotage or lie to her.” In other words, this is the clear difference from this incident—”
“The server was destroyed, the email was destroyed, Juan,” McCallum interjected. “The problem is, here’s the problem.”
“Martha, they were destroyed under the rule of law, under the rule of law,” he said.
“That’s not true,” McCallum interrupted.
“The person under investigation has the right to see her emails or his emails and determine which are relevant to government scrutiny,” he said. “And now all of a sudden Trump brings this up because he says this is also smoke and mirrors and oh that’s unfair.” (Related: Newt Gingrich, Juan Williams Fight Hunter Biden Criminal Charges)
McCallum said the public only heard one side of the case after special counsel Jack Smith released the indictment. He said some of the charges in the indictment, including 31 charges of violating the Espionage Act, appeared to be very serious.
She also pointed to delays in investigating Hunter Biden’s laptop and alleged tax violations.
“You can be confident that these cases have been clearly investigated. Many Americans don’t have that confidence. Can you explain that? Juan, what does it take five years if you don’t turn back?”
“We can file a lawsuit and be confident that this case will not be considered political and that a jury will convict this truly lost child of a crime here. don’t look like that [if] We were just going after him just because he’s the president’s son,” Williams said.
“I mean, don’t make him look like a victim,” McCallum said.
“Think about it, who are the prosecutors in the Delaware case? President Trump appointed them. Who were the prosecutors when we were looking into all this? , Bill Burr,” he said.
“Look, if nothing happens, the case should be closed,” McCallum added. “It is still open. , somehow we will act very quickly and it will all be over, we are going to have a speedy trial on this matter. It’s raising a lot of questions, Juan, and I think we all need to open our eyes to what’s going on.”
“I’m for that, if I have the evidence,” Williams said.
McCallum alleges that Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky, owner of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, offered a $5 million bribe to Biden and Hunter during the Biden presidency. noted the record. Mr. Williams continued to seek “evidence” that Hunter had committed any crimes and any suspicion of double standards.
“Nepotism is not a crime,” he said.
“No, we are talking about possible bribery among Ukrainian officials to get results for U.S. policy. That is what we are talking about.” said McCallum.
“No one has ever presented any evidence,” Williams said, speaking of McCallum.
