La Paz County will elect judges in the Arizona primary on August 2nd.
The judges of the La Paz County High Court and the Justice of the Peace of the Parker Court of Justice are selected by a Republican preliminary vote. With no candidates running as Democrats or Libertarians for two offices, the primary-nominated Republican nominee will be elected in his November.
On the Superior Court bench, current Judge Jessica Quickle is being challenged by Marcus Kelly. Kelly is a former La Paz County prosecutor who says he has lived in Arizona occasionally since 1980. He learned that in 2021, the Arizona Judiciary Action Commission issued a disciplinary action against the other party for the treatment of his colleagues at work. Some countered that it was inaccurate, some conceded, citing a difficult workload during the pandemic and a misunderstanding of her demeanor. Since 2019, he has served as a Superior Court Judge. She is the first female judge in the history of the court.
Justice of the Peace Tiffany Dyer served the same length of time as Quickle, defeating two sheriff’s deputies to win the Republican nomination as a judge on the Parker Court of Justice in the 2018 primary. Formerly a clerk of the Parker Court of Justice. In this election, she is being challenged by Karen Slaughter, a judge on the Salome Court of Justice for many years. His recent closure left Parker as the only court of justice in the county. I was elected and re-elected.
High Court Clerk Holly Lucas is undisputed. Voters who do not vote by mail include Parker, Upriver, Poston, Bowes, Wenden, Salome, Vicksburg, Quartzsite, Cibola, Ehrenberg, and 11 other voters in the county.
