Election officials want people to plan how they will vote this fall, as ballots will be the longest they've been in nearly two decades.
The Maricopa County Board of Elections on Wednesday rolled out the new ballots as part of an effort to print more than 21,000 different ballots tailored to each community.
This year, Maricopa County voters will see a two-page ballot for the first time since 2006.
The length of the ballot paper is due to the number of decisions voters must make, from individual elections to numerous propositions.
According to the county, there are 265 races on the ballot, including 144 elected offices, 45 judgeships and 76 ballot measures across the board.
Many of these proposals come from lawmakers as a way to change the law without requiring the governor's signature on the bill.
This year, the county is also expecting record voter turnout.
“Because of that, and because the ballots are longer than normal, lines will be longer than normal,” said Jennifer Lewer, Maricopa County's deputy elections director.
As a result, officials are urging people to consider voting early, either in person or by mail.
Sample ballots will be made available to voters online in the coming weeks at BeBallotReady.Vote. The deadline to register to vote is October 7th, with early voting beginning October 9th.
