sedona news – The Mary D. Fisher Theater is proud to continue to be home to the Met Live Opera program for the 2022-2023 season presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. The season continues with Simul His Wagner’s ‘Lohengrin’ live by his cast on Saturday March 18th at 9am and encore his presentation on Wednesday March 22nd at 3pm.
Russ Fox gives a pre-opera talk one hour before the live production on Saturday, so plan to arrive early.
Wagner’s soaring masterpiece makes its triumphant return to the stage of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the first time in 17 years. In the sequel to Parsifal’s revelatory production, director François Girard presents an atmospheric staging that reunites his striking visuals, his style and keen theatrical insight to Wagner’s breathtaking music. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will lead the best cast on stage. by tenor Pyotr Betzara in the title role of The Mysterious Swan Knight.
Soprano Tamara Wilson plays the virtuous Duchess Elsa, falsely accused of murder, and soprano Christine Goerke faces off as Ortrud, the cunning sorceress. Bass-baritone Evgeny Nikitin is Ortrud’s power-hungry husband Terramant, and bass-baritone Günther Groisbeck is King Heinrich.
The Met Live Opera’s Lohengrin premieres (live simulcast) at the Mary D. Fisher Theater on Saturday, March 18 at 9:00 am, with an encore on Wednesday, March 22 at 3:00 pm. A pre-opera talk takes place one hour before his live simulcast on Saturday. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $22 for film festival members, and $15 for students.
