Navajo County deputies execute search warrants for missing teen

The Navajo County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday that it has executed multiple search warrants to investigate the disappearance of a teenage boy.

The agency said 17-year-old Jarrett Brooks has been missing from his home in Joseph City since July 2023. Chief Deputy Brian Swanty told The Arizona Republic that officers executed a search warrant at Brooks' home in Joseph City on Aug. 3, 2023. And again on Wednesday. He also executed at least one search warrant somewhere in Phoenix during the investigation.

“Detectives are still conducting a search of the home and expect to finish within the next few hours,” Ms Swanty said at around 3pm on Thursday. “The results of the search warrant executed on January 3, 2024 are not yet known. At this time, the current status or whereabouts of Jarrett Brooks is not yet known.”

The sheriff's office said it investigated hundreds of tips and leads, but no reliable information was provided.

“The investigation is focused on computer forensics and cyber communications related to Jarrett's disappearance and whereabouts,” the sheriff's office said in a news release.

He added that other law enforcement agencies are assisting in the search and encouraged anyone with knowledge about Brooks' disappearance to share information with detectives.
