‘No burn’ days in effect for Maricopa County through Christmas Day

Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — Maricopa County is asking people not to get burned this weekend. Combustion only contributes to the problem if air quality warnings are in place.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is issuing a burn ban this holiday week as the National Weather Service places the valley under a high pollution advisory. Stagnant weather combined with pollutants already present in the atmosphere is a bad recipe for those with breathing problems. Restrictions mean you can’t light a fireplace or make a fire outside.

County spokesperson Ali Halpert said, “If you plan to burn or use a heater, we recommend using propane or natural gas because they don’t cause smoke pollution. .

No Burn Days are determined daily depending on air quality forecasts.

It’s also important to note that on days like these, the weather can affect people with breathing problems such as asthma. As for programming, from 8am on Christmas Day he can watch 3TV and Yule his logs to keep the festive spirit alive.
