The Alabama Republican Party has officially named Norman Crowe, a city councilman from Tuscaloosa, as their candidate for the upcoming special election for House District 63. This announcement was made on their Facebook page. On Monday, they highlighted Crowe’s record in conservative leadership and community service.
The party’s statement congratulated Crowe on his candidacy, noting, “Crow, Councillor, brings a strong record of public service and conservative leadership to the race, and we are proud to be able to represent the Alabama Republican Party in this important election.”
Crowe, who hails from Tuscaloosa, was the first to declare his intention to run for the seat earlier this year after Cynthia Almond resigned to become the president of the Alabama Public Service Commission. Her official resignation took effect on June 15th.
Crowe currently serves as a council member representing District 3 in Tuscaloosa and has previously been part of the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education. He has chaired Committees for several local organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama and the United Way.
In his professional journey, Crowe began in the energy field, holding leadership roles in various companies such as Southern Natural Gas and Duke Energy. He later owned a local transport business, DT Freight, and is currently a licensed real estate agent with Hamner Real Estate.
Governor Ivey has designated September 30th as the date for the special primary election, with a second primary on October 28th and the general election scheduled for January 13th, 2026. This election will involve 63 seats in the House of Representatives.
Crowe’s district includes significant parts of downtown Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama campuses.
