As Maricopa gears up for the November 8th poll, just over half of respondents believe the election will go ahead, according to the results of this week’s InMaricopa Readers Poll.

We asked our readers: Do you believe elections will be held properly? ”

Just over half, 52.9%, said, “Yes, the department is currently headed by someone who knows the area well and has a track record of successful elections.”

Others were more skeptical, with 1 in 4 saying, “No, we can’t rebuild such a devastated organization in just three months.”

A final 22.1% were not skeptical, saying the election was rigged no matter what they said.

The August primaries in several cities in Pinal County, including Maricopa, were plagued with errors, including the omission of candidates’ names and races from ballots. Several districts in the county have run out of ballots at some polling places.

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors subsequently appointed former registrar Virginia Ross as county elections official and Dana Lewis as county elections commissioner.

Voters on November 8 will not only select state and county offices, but also determine control of Congress and the fate of some key proposals.
