‘Respect Our Dignity’: Female Athletes Take Aim At Biden Admin Over Looming Title IX Changes

A coalition of female athletes rallied in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday to protest the Biden administration's revisions to Title IX rules that add protections based on gender ideology and sexual orientation.

The Independent Women's Forum (IWF) held a rally in Washington, DC as part of its Our Bodies, Our Sports “Take Back Title IX Summer 2024 Bus Tour.” The rally was one stop on the group's month-long national tour aimed at raising awareness about the threat the administration's new rules pose to women's sports. according to Our bodies, our sports.

In “Our Bods, Our Sports,” letter The letter addresses the Biden Administration and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona's revisions to Title IX and calls for protections for women's sports. The letter states the importance of privacy and safety in women's sports.

The Biden administration's Title IX rule changes, which aimed to expand protections to include “gender identity” and “sexual orientation,” were recently blocked in Republican-leaning states and the administration is appealing the ruling.

Macy Petty, a former college volleyball player and executive director of Concerned Women for America Ambassador, She is one of the women on tour who are campaigning for the protection of women's sports.

“They should be working to uphold fairness. For female athletes, what we're asking for is really simple: Respect our dignity. But they're attacking our dignity and who we are as human beings. And they're putting us at risk because of it. We've seen girls who have lost scholarship opportunities or been seriously injured. And it's all because of the Biden administration and their reckless Title IX rules,” Petty told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The group of women on the bus tour includes Olympians, NCAA athletes, high school players, coaches and notable female advocates such as Riley Gaines, Martina Navratilova and Tulsi Gabbard. (Related story: Bush-appointed judge blocks Biden's new Title IX rules in six more states)

“We're pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to our IWF ambassadors,” said Peyton McNabb, a former high school volleyball player, bus tour member and IWF ambassador. Paralyzed He suffered serious head and neck injuries from the cleats of a male athlete who identified as transgender.

“Women are being attacked… so this tour is just to get the word out, get people involved and educate people on what's going on. A lot of people don't even realize it's happening, but it's real,” McNab told DCNF.

“I wouldn't be where I am today without Title IX. It propelled me into my role as a coach and prepared me for my role as a recruiter,” IWF Marketing Director Adriana McClamb told DCNF.

“We sent about 200,000 letters to the NCAA Board of Governors prior to their April meeting, requesting reforms not only at the federal level but also at the NCAA level. The Department of Education did not immediately respond to DCNF's request for comment.
