RICHARD PORTER: Trump Was A Better President Than Biden And A Better Candidate Than Harris

It is a story of resurrection that spans centuries: despite two impeachmentstwo assassination attempts, four criminal charges, 34 felony convictions, and coverage from the three major networks was 85% negative (Conversely, 78% were positive about their opponents.), former President Donald Trump defeated all hate and hate to win a second term in the Oval Office.

why? Trump was a better president than President Joe Biden and a better candidate than Vice President Kamala Harris. Ordinary Americans enjoyed a visibly more productive life under Trump than under Biden. And Trump is clearly more authentic, approachable, charming, smart, persuasive, insightful, intuitive and fun than Harris. Trump won on both policy and personality.

Democracy prevailed. Despite everything being done and said to prevent that from happening, people will have their way. Almost every institution in America, including the media, academia, and big business, not only opposed Trump, but vehemently opposed him, comparing him to Hitler and warning that his election would mean the end of democracy itself. Despite this, Trump won.

Oh, and movies and rock stars too. Harrison Ford emotionally said over the weekend that he voted for Harris and Tim Walz. of The crux of his pitch was: “These two believe in the rule of law. They believe in science. They believe that when you govern, it’s in the best interest of all Americans. They believe that together we can I believe we’re working on the problem… Look, I’m frustrated by a lot of things in this country, I’m sure you are too. But what about the other guy? It pitted us against each other while embracing the dictators and tyrants within.”

It was a passionate pitch, but it failed because most of us didn’t fall out of coconut trees. For those of us who are dissatisfied with what our government has done, it’s just a beautifully told lie.

It was a call to trust prosecutors and judges who cynically use the courts as partisan weapons while proclaiming loyalty to the “rule of law.” Silencing those who dared to question the origins and impact of COVID-19, and trusting government officials who were later proven correct. to ignore fraud national security official Those who claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was fake even though they knew it wasn’t. Forget that they ran solely to win elections, claiming they wanted to unify the country while working full-time to divide it. We didn’t go along.

In short, Trump’s victory is more than a grand personal and policy success story, it is a vote of “no confidence” in institutions and governance by authoritative experts. Organizations fail if they don’t focus on their core mission. Think of all the American and European institutions that have gone nowhere, focusing on politically trending and fringe issues.

Biden addressed US troops stationed in the UK during his first overseas trip as president. It didn’t get off to a good start. “When I was first elected vice president with President Obama, the military sat down with us to let us know what the biggest threats facing America were.” he said. “This is no joke. Do the Joint Chiefs of Staff tell us what the biggest threat facing America is?” Global warming. “

Despite the disclaimer, this just sounded like a “joke”. Or rather, a parody of liberal excesses. Biden was addressing the men and women who signed up to risk their lives on the battlefield to protect their fellow Americans. And he was giving them Democratic talking points. The obvious inference to be drawn is that the new commander-in-chief is reckless and the Pentagon is run by bastards or idiots. Both perceptions were reinforced by the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan in the immediate aftermath and months later. If the military focuses on anything other than war, it will set itself on a path to failure.

Similarly, nearly all government agencies are now focused on fringe issues and progressive trends rather than their core mission. Prosecutors promote “impartiality” rather than incarcerating criminals. The Department of Homeland Security is not focused on securing borders, but rather on facilitating illegal immigration.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is tasked with promoting capital formation and deterring fraud, not curbing carbon emissions. FEMA’s core mission is to quickly respond to and repair disasters, not to find taxpayer-funded housing for illegal immigrants. The FBI’s core mission is to protect the public from crime and terrorism, not from conservative Catholics.

It’s not just government agencies that have lost their way. The media’s core mission should be to tell the news, not fabricate partisan, half-truth stories for the purpose of swaying elections. When the information being conveyed does not reflect observable reality, news organizations are failing in their core mission. Please think back to the memorable scenes of 2020. Cable news reporters described it as a “mostly peaceful protest” as fire destroyed buildings behind it.

The core mission of universities is to open minds and expand knowledge. Does anyone think that free exploration of timeless ideas is tolerated on campus today?

Once venerable corporate institutions are no longer focused on their core mission. Disney, Budweiser, Target, and BlackRock are infamous examples of companies that have wandered into preaching to consumers rather than serving them, but today almost every large company is a member of the far-left Democratic Party. We invest time and resources in DEI and ESG initiatives that advance policy. party. Placing political commissars in C-suite positions distracts from a company’s core mission, creates division within its workforce, and alienates consumers.

Just as government, media, and corporate institutions have become politicized and degraded, so too have public “experts.” Socrates, perhaps the greatest intellectual expert of all time, observed that: true wisdom is By knowing that I know nothing. He refused to use his expertise authoritatively, but instead used his expertise to empower others to think about problems.

Few voters have read Socrates today, but almost everyone knows that experts don’t always agree. That’s why when we encounter a difficult or expensive problem, we seek a second opinion. Whether it’s auto repair or brain surgery, we know it pays to get a second, and sometimes third, opinion. why? Experts have different perspectives and different motivations. Often there is more than one answer. Although we may ultimately rely on the judgment of experts, we must use their expertise to understand the problem in order to make better decisions.

Public experts tend to be more authoritative and offer less advice, which generally erodes trust in experts. For example, during the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci and a team of government experts used their “expert” status authoritatively and politically. This lack of Socratic humility has caused millions of people to lose faith in all public professionals who behave similarly.

So in a world where so many things are going wrong, it makes sense to elect someone who is driving those in power crazy. Despite (or perhaps because of) all the hate they’re amassing, the working majority of Americans still hate Trump and his bubbly supporters, including former Democrats Bobby Kennedy, Elon Musk, and Tulsi Gabbard. An intrepid group of critics was convinced that the best course of action was. For cleaning up the system to make America great again.
