Recent legislation, introduced by Rep. Gary Palmer, has lifted an 11-hour ban on tankless natural gas water heaters. This measure was signed into law by President Donald Trump.
Lawmakers were present at the White House last week for the signing ceremony.
Palmer expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s an honor to see President Trump sign my common sense law. This is a reversal of the previous administration’s effort to take away options for Americans when it comes to water heaters. We appreciate President Trump for endorsing this bill.”
Prior to the signing, lawmakers discussed the proposed ban by the Biden administration during an appearance on Fox News.
“This is just another illustration of how the government has overstepped under the Biden administration,” Palmer pointed out. “They seem indifferent to consumer needs. This is just one example—there are others like gas stoves and dishwashers. The notion here is about saving money in the long run, but the initial costs for compliant water heaters can be a burden for many.”
Palmer highlighted that House Republicans remain committed to assisting middle-class families nationwide despite obstacles from the previous administration and Congressional Democrats.
“Our aim is to support middle-income families, who have faced mounting challenges,” he said. “The Biden administration has demonstrated a significant disregard for what the average American is going through.”
The House passed this legislation in February with a vote of 221-198-2.
Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas introduced a companion bill in the Senate, which also passed in early April.
