Yuma — The Yuma County Election Advisory Board unanimously recommended the appointment of Francisca “Kika” Guzmán as the new Director of Elections. Guzman, who has served as Interim Director of Election Services since January 23, 2023, will succeed Tiffany Anderson, the former Director of Elections, who was appointed Director of Yuma County Facilities Management.
“As Registrar, appointing Kika Guzman as Director of Elections was an easy choice. The EAC agreed unanimously,” says Rick Cowell. “Her knowledge and experience have prepared her well to meet the demands placed on her by the Director of Elections. I have no intention of leaving to do so, and it was an honor to offer Kika a secure position for this director.”
Mr. Guzman’s tenure in the Election Services Department dates back to 2008, initially holding the positions of Election Technician and Election Specialist. She proved her expertise and her dedication and she was promoted to the position of Election Service Her Coordinator. Throughout her tenure with the department, Guzman said she has maintained her state credentials as an elections officer since 2009 and has been directly involved in every Yuma County election since 2008.
In 2022, Guzman furthered his qualifications and knowledge in the field by successfully completing the prestigious Certified Electoral Registration Administrator (CERA) program through the Election Center and Auburn University.
As the newly appointed Director of Elections, Mr. Guzman will oversee and manage all aspects of election operations within Yuma County and will be responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, and efficient process for election events.
Yuma County’s promotion of Francisca “Kika” Guzman exemplifies the organization’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing talent within its ranks. The promotion of a talented person like Mr. Guzman further strengthens Yuma County’s dedication to providing excellent service to both its valued employees and the wider community.
