Yuma County says Guzman’s knowledge and experience have prepared him for his new role
Yuma County, Arizona (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Election Advisory Board has unanimously appointed Francisca “Kika” Guzmán as the new Director of Elections.
Guzman has been serving as Interim Director of Election Services since January 23, 2023, following the appointment of the former Director of Elections as Director of Yuma County Facilities Administration.
Yuma County said Mr. Guzman will be responsible for the oversight and management of all election operations in Yuma County, ensuring fair, transparent and efficient processes for election events.
“As Recorder, appointing Kika Guzman as Director of Elections was an easy choice. The EAC agreed unanimously,” said Rick Cowell. “Her knowledge and experience prepared her well to meet the demands placed on the Director of Elections. I have no intention of leaving and it was an honor to offer Kika a secure position for this director.”
Yuma County said Guz began working for the Election Services Division in 2008, where he served as an election technician and election specialist before being promoted to election services coordinator.
She has held state qualifications as an elections officer since 2009 and has been involved in all Yuma County elections since 2008.
Yuma County also said it completed the accredited voter registration administrator program through the election center and Auburn University in 2022.
