YUMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Yuma County will conduct a recount Wednesday morning in two very close elections it has been tracking since last month's Arizona Primary Election.
The recount was carried out at the Recorder's Office, and the vote count was live-streamed on a website to allow local people to follow the process.
“The count is a machine recount process, and it's the machine that actually generates the results,” Yuma County Communications Director Arlyn Galaviz said.
Yuma County hosted a logic and accuracy test (L&A) of the recount.
in press releaseThe tests are intended to “prepare” for a recount of the primary elections that took place late last month.
Yuma County said the testing is an “essential part” of its efforts to “maintain accurate and secure election equipment.”
“Logic and accuracy testing is an important process that is conducted to ensure that voting equipment is properly programmed and can accurately count votes for each candidate in an election. The testing is one of several measures undertaken by county and state officials to ensure the security and reliability of the voting process,” the county said.
The parties, candidates, and positions subject to the recount are as follows:
- Republican: County Recorder
- Richard Colwell
- David Lara
- Democratic Party: Board of Supervisors District 4
- Marco A. “Tony” Reyes
- Luisa “La Maestra” Areola
