Yuma County looking for primary election volunteers

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Calling all area residents.

Yuma County is actively recruiting poll workers to assist with the upcoming primary election.

Arizona's primary election will be held on July 30th.

Election workers are the vital link between election offices and the voters we serve. They are on the front lines of our democracy, engaging with voters, issuing ballots and maintaining voting equipment.

“This is an important part of our democratic process,” Yuma County Communications Director Arlyn Galaviz said. “We want to make sure the community has the opportunity to participate in the election so it runs smoothly.”

Anyone interested in volunteering during the election must complete an application and complete all training requirements by July 23. Community members can earn $50 for completing the mandatory training requirements.

Community members can earn $150 on Election Day, with an additional $20 available to those who set up the day before.

The only requirement is that you must be a registered voter.

If you have questions about how to become an election worker, please visit Yuma County.gov or stop by the Yuma County Recorder's Office. We'll be happy to help you and answer any questions you may have.
