Cochise County Republican Supervisors plead not guilty to charges of conspiracy and interference with an election officer

Two Cochise County Republican supervisors were indicted Thursday in Maricopa County Superior Court on charges of conspiracy and interfering with election officials.

Director Tom Crosby and director Peggy Judd have both pleaded not guilty to felony charges.

Crosby said he hopes to put the issue on the back burner in 2022 to allow public comment.

It wasn't until a lawsuit was filed by then-Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and a court order was issued for the board to convene and certify the canvass. Judd and Democratic Supervisor Anne English certified Canvas in December.. Mr. Crosby did not attend the court-ordered meeting and did not vote.

Commissioner Shelley Smith said if either supervisor fails to appear at the hearing without a valid excuse, a warrant for their arrest could be issued.

The two supervisors are scheduled to return to court in February for their first pretrial conference.
