No Labels Nat’l Convention Chair Says Group Has ‘No Intention’ Of Spoiling 2024 Election

No Labels National Conference President Mike Rawlings said Friday on Fox News that he has “no intention” of spoiling the 2024 election after the centrist group announced plans to enter the race.

Rawlings appeared on “Special Report with Bret Baier” on Friday to discuss the group's confirmation that it will run a third-party “Unity Ticket” for the 2024 general election. Fox host Bret Baier questioned Rawlings behind the group's motivations for adding it to the 2024 ballot, citing the 1992 Texas independent candidate Ross Perot pulling votes away from Republicans and Democrats. emphasized the presidential election. “We agree with our Dallasite colleagues here that we want to make sure that we have a path to the White House that doesn't become a spoiler,” Rawlings said. “We have no intention there. We're trying to support the common-sense majority that says, 'This is broken, there has to be another way.' And that's what America is crying out for right now. That's what we're looking for. ”

Baier pressed the centrist group's chairman about his expectations for when voters would know their candidate choice.

“Finally, Mike – what's your timeline? When will we know if you guys have two candidates? Republican/Democrat, Democrat/Republican, whatever happens,” Baier said. asked.

“Well, first of all, next week is going to be a big week,” Rawlings replied. “We're going to make our process public so everyone can see exactly how we're moving forward and how decisions are being made. Doubtful. And after March 14th, they'll probably figure out if they have tickets and then put them back into competition. The latest would be the first few weeks of April. So it's coming. Will – this is what we said we would do. We said we wouldn't do anything until Super Tuesday. We'll go back to Representative Super Tuesday and then we'll go through this process. So, What's happening now is exactly what we expected would happen, and now we have to kind of cut our cards on this issue.”

The No Labels group, which has 800 representatives across the country, is now expected to vet potential candidates for third-party tickets. Major politicians such as Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin and former Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan were rumored to be potential candidates, but have since been ruled out.
